Use The Grooms Speech To Please Everyone!

October 30th, 2009 Sam

It may sound obvious, but your grooms speech is not an opportunity to say what you want. No unfortunately, it requires structure to ensure you don’t forget to mention anyone. It took me a while to come to terms with this, but believe me, it really does make your groom’s speech easier and it is meant to be a way to keep all of your guests happy as well as create an atmosphere for the perfect wedding day.

As a side note, grooms speeches are the most formal of all the wedding speeches. It’s important that it is not as sentimental as the father of the bride speech, nor as funny as the best man’s speech. However there is no reason you can’t inject a bit of fun into your grooms wedding speech with a couple of decent (clean) jokes! See our funny groom speeches for more…

Knowing who to thank

Generally you should make sure you thank everyone for turning up and anyone responsible for getting you there on time. The order then runs similar to the following: the father of the bride, the maid of honor and then the best man. This is an opportunity to praise family members and close friends and throw in anecdotes to show your audience what they mean to you.

Don’t forget the bride!

Now it’s time in your grooms speech to turn to your attention to your beautiful bride. You should mention how you met (even though everyone has heard it a thousand times!), because it always goes down well with the wedding guests who have made such an effort to be there. Remember that the ‘wedding day’ and should be about the love for your bride and the joy you feel of having all your family and friends around.

It really is about keeping every one of the wedding guests happy. And by finishing with the perfect grooms speech, it shouldn’t be that difficult!
